The concept for this piece was born in conversations with the Scientist Steven Chavez. We talked about the unit cell, crystallography, and molecular/atomic geometry. I wanted to visualize the concepts and structures that exist on a molecular level to try and show you, the viewer, possible structures that we cannot see. The piece is based on the 6-fold perspective of an infinite lattice structure. In this lattice, each unit is a fractal pyramid with two iterations of fractals.
