Beneath the duct tape is an image of a world map. Duct tape began as cotton duct which was used for ship sails. Eventually it was combined with adhesives and used by the U.S. government as a repair material in WW2. The combination of this material and the underlying image are a reflection on the U.S' and its involvement in world affairs.
